Bursary for Ballymun Artists 2024- Ballymun is Brilliant
Deadline for Applications: 8th December (Midnight).
Project Location: Ballymun, Dublin.
Application Fee: None.
Budget: €500-€1000.
Eligibility: This bursary is open to all creative individuals at any career stage from Ballymun or with a strong connection to the area.
Bursary Overview
Ballymun is Brilliant is excited to announce a bursary for Ballymun based Artists. The bursary is open to any visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, poets, theatre makers, spoken word artists etc who are from or live in Ballymun and open to creating a piece that responds to the themes of climate action and climate justice in Ballymun.
Your piece must respond to one, or both, of the two themes.
You may also choose to frame your answer around the question:
- What do you feel Ballymun will be like for our future generations?
There will be 5 bursaries provided as part of this project.
- 1 bursary of €1000 euro.
- 4 bursaries of €500 euro each.
If you plan to apply for the bursary of 1000 euro, but can scale your project to also fit to the 500 euro budget, please indicate this in your application.
What we offer:
- A bursary to cover your costs to prepare and present your work during Better Ballymun Day.
- Make introductions with local Ballymun community if necessary.
- An opportunity to showcase your work in community spaces during Better Ballymun Day.
How to Apply:
To apply to this bursary, please submit the following to [email protected]
- Project Proposal. Maximum 1 A4 page that includes:
-Your name and details,
-A detailed description of your proposed project,
– Your connection with Ballymun and the Ballymun community.
2. We also ask you to include photos of up to 3 previous works. Please attach other media if your work cannot be presented in photo form.
We accept applications in written, audio or video formats.
The deadline to apply for the Bursary for Ballymun artists is Midnight on Sunday 8th of December 2024.
The pieces must be ready to be presented in March 2025 for Better Ballymun Day.

There will be a Artists Coffee morning in advance of the deadline. We encourage artists considering applying to attend, as its a chance to meet the Ballymun is Brilliant team and ask any questions you may have.

Selection Process:
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts in climate justice and community arts.
Key Dates:
Wednesday 27th November – Creative Coffee Morning.
Sunday 8th December – (Midnight) – Application Deadline.
Thursday 12th December – Applicants Contacted with Decisions.
Monday 16th December – Materials (headshot, bio, project description) Due.
Wednesday 18th December – Selected Projects Announcement on Socials and Website
March 14th 2025 – Final Presentation/Event on Better Ballymun Day.
